Andros TownsendEngland winger Andros Townsend has finally made a long-awaited return from injury as he featured in Tottenham’s first pre-season friendly.

The 23-year-old was in the starting line-up as Spurs played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with MLS side Seattle Sounders before he was replaced at half-time.

Townsend had missed the end of the season as well as the 2014 World Cup after suffering an ankle injury on the last day of April and he was expected to be out for some ten weeks.

The good news is his recovery appears to have gone as planned considering he was able to take part in Mauricio Pochettino’s first game as Tottenham boss.

Spurs have been surprisingly quiet in the summer transfer window and they have yet to sign any new players this summer.

With that in mind, it is hardly surprising the White Hart Lane outfit are 4.50 (7/2) with 888sport for a top 4 finish next season.
