Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could make his return to Premier League action mid-week for the Citizens’ clash with West Bromwich Albion.

The Argentine striker has endured an injury-hit campaign thus far, making just five appearances in all competitions. He suffered from a knee injury at the start of the campaign, with a hamstring problem then keeping him out of five Premier League matches.

It was thought that he would return in time for the Manchester derby at the weekend but after being struck down with illness, he was not risked.

However, Guardiola has confirmed that Aguero could be in contention for the clash against the Baggies at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Spaniard said: “Today he was training but in the last two or three days he could not train so we will decide tomorrow.”

City host Slaven Bilic’s men looking to drastically improve their fortunes. They currently sit ninth in the Premier League table after 11 matches, four points off of the UEFA Champions League places, having won just four league games this season.

Should Aguero return, he will surely be one of the prime candidates to open the scoring in the game. The 32-year-old sits at a price of 12/5 with William Hill to indeed strike the first blow.
