West Ham United manager David Moyes has said that he is pleased with his side’s performance against Aston Villa.

The Hammers maintained their good start to the season with a comfortable 4-1 win against Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League at the weekend.

Ben Johnson, Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen were the goalscorers for West Ham.

Ollie Watkins found the back of the net for Dean Smith’s side.

Villa were reduced to 10 men in the 50th minute when Ezri Konsa was sent off for a foul on Bowen.

Moyes told West Ham’s official website: “It was a really good result and I have to say a really hard-fought one.

“Even when Aston Villa were down to ten men it was far from easy. The game probably changed a bit at that time and we can play better, but I’m thrilled that we got four goals.

“There are ten or 12 teams, maybe more, who are really close [in standard] and any one of them can win on any week.

“Just at the moment though we’ve got a really good group of players that I have to keep driving on.

“We’re not going to sit back and enjoy it too much, even though I’m smiling and loving the thought of the victory today. It’s a fabulous victory but I’m looking for even better performances, I have to say.”

The win against Villa means that West Ham are now fourth in the Premier League table with 20 points from 10 matches, five points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.

The Hammers can be backed at 15/2 on Betfair to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
