Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has opened up on his desire to return to Spain in future.

Belgium international has joined Premier League club from Atletico Madrid two years ago, but in his extensive interview with the Spanish media outlet Marca Courtois reveals that he misses Madrid and Spain in general.

Courtios reiterates however that he is under contract with Chelsea, but suggest that he will consider a La Liga return once he nears the end of his current deal with the Blues.

“When I left Spain, I knew I’d return one day. I have a contract with Chelsea for the next three seasons. In 2018, when I’m in the last year of my contract, I’ll evaluate whether it makes more sense to stay or to go”, the 24-year-old goalkeeper told Marca.

Thibaut Courtois had enjoyed a successful three-year spell with Atletico Madrid, where he won several trophies including La Liga title. The Belgium goalkeeper also reached Champions League final in 2014 with Los Colchoneros.

Chelsea shot-stopper caused quite a stir with his commanding performances in Spain, attracting attention from Atletico Madrid city rivals Real Madrid, who are believed to be still keen on Belgium international.

Having failed in their bids for Manchester United keeper David de Gea, Los Blancos have reportedly identified Thibaut Courtois as a long-term solution in goal.

The Belgium goalkeeper has gone on to reveal an interesting detail about his relationship with Real Madrid, who sent him a heart-felt message during his injury lay-off last season, when he was ruled out for up to three months with a knee problem.

“When I hurt my knee I was sent a fax by Real Madrid wishing me a speedy recovery”, Courtois said.

Courtois’ shocking La Liga revelations comes at the worst possible moment, ahead of Chelsea’s highly anticipated visit to Emirates on Saturday.
