sergio ramosIn what have been sensational reports initiated by the Spanish source Diario Gol, Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are believed to be lining up a swoop for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his defensive options having switched to a three-man centre-half system with the Blues and has been continually linked with high-profile defenders including Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci.

The Blues re-signed Brazilian defender David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline this summer, but Antonio Conte is looking to add more depth to his backline.

Sergio Ramos has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past with Manchester United tipped to make a move for the Spanish defender a couple of seasons ago, but it is Chelsea who have emerged as suitors for the Los Blancos’ captain.

According to reports Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is open to selling the 30-year-old defender as he looks to cash in on the players before it gets too late to make a significant fee on former Sevilla defender.

The experienced 30-year-old has endured mixed fortunes this season both for club and country and has been criticised for his high-profile errors on one to many occasions this term.

Ramos is currently recovering from a knee injury he sustained playing for La Roja on Sunday.

Real Madrid captain has been diagnosed with a grade two sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee after falling awkwardly in the match against Albania.

The initial assessments claimed Sergio Ramos will miss four weeks of action, although Spanish media report that the Spanish defender could be unavailable for up to six weeks.

The 30-year-old is at risk of missing the next month’s derby with Atletico Madrid, while he will most definitely be out of contention for the forthcoming trip to Real Betis.

Los Blancos are looking at the betting odds of 2.05 (21/20) @Coral to claim a HT/FT win at Benito Villamarin on Saturday night.
