Following lengthy negotiations between Serie A sides Atalanta and AC Milan, a summer move for the right-back Andrea Conti is yet to be officially sealed.

The Italy Under-21 international has previously made it very clear that he wants to join AC Milan this summer and has been refusing other options so the two clubs were believed to be closing in on a €24 million deal.

The player himself has already reached an agreement with Rossoneri, saying yes to a five-year deal and all that remains now is for Atalanta to sanction the deal.

The Orobici, however, are refusing to let Conti go until they’ve found a replacement for the influential defender. Atalanta were close to signing Gent defender Thomas Foket but gave up on the 22-year-old after he failed to pass the medical examinations.

According to the reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta have now switched focus to Foket’s teammate Timothy Castagne although the player was widely tipped for a move to French side Nice.

Castagne deal is unlikely to go through until the weekend, which means Andrea Conti will have to wait until next week to seal his dream move to Rossoneri.

AC Milan have been extremely active during the summer transfer market having already secured the signings of Fabio Borini, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mateo Musacchio, Andre Silva and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Having dug deep to create a competitive squad for the 2017/18 season, AC Milan can now be found at 11.00 (10/1) betting odds to lift the Serie A trophy.
