Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool have been named as two most notable names currently in the mix to sign Kerem Demirbay during the summer transfer window.

Hoffenheim starlet has attracted plenty of interest from Europe’s biggest clubs including the likes of Everton, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund, but all of the aforementioned sides now face a tough heartbreak knowing that the 24-year-old has suffered a serious injury this weekend.

The Germany midfielder picked up an injury during his side’s 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin after a challenge from Jordan Torunarigha and a closer look at the extent of the problem determined the severity of the injury, confirming that Hoffenheim will be without their biggest star ‘for the foreseeable future’.

Scans performed at Berlin’s Martin Luther Hospital revealed Demirbay had ruptured the anterior ligament, while also partially damaging the syndesmosis ligament in his right knee which will rule him out for quite some time.

Hoffenheim players rallied around their teammate by posting a touching image on Instagram following the Saturday’s draw.

Kerem Demirbay has struggled with injuries over the past period and 16 minutes in the Hertha Berlin stalemate was his first appearance in 2018. The German international missed his team’s previous three matches with a thigh injury and will now be forced to sit on the sidelines for a still undefined period of time.

Demirbay made 15 appearances for Hoffenheim this season. During that time, he scored two goals and provided one assist.

Hoffenheim currently sit in ninth place in the standings and will play Mainz next Saturday. Julian Nagelsmann’s side are given 1.70 (7/10) betting odds to register a home win against Die Nullfufner.
