Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been lined up to potentially replace Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid, according to reports.

Italian outfit Corriere dello Sport report that the Italian is in pole position to replace the under-fire Spaniard at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having only arrived in the summer in the place of the departed Zinedine Zidane, the former Spain national team boss has so far struggled in charge of Los Blancos. Real currently sit fifth in the table having only won four out of their nine games so far this season.

They have also find it hard to find the back of the net during the campaign, recently enduring a long drought of 480 successive minutes without scoring. They did break their duck at the weekend against Levante at home but still lost 2-1, their third successive reverse in league action.

Lopetegui’s potential replacement, Conte, has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in the summer. The former Juventus boss won one Premier League title and an FA Cup in his time in charge of the Blues.

The Italian can be backed at 13/10 with Paddy Power to become the next manager to take the reins at Real Madrid. Meanwhile, former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is second favourite at 7/2.
