Juventus central midfielder Adrien Rabiot has expressed his delight at France’s win against Germany in their opening Euro 2020 game on Tuesday evening.

France, who won the 2018 World Cup, kicked off their European Championship campaign with a 1-0 win against Germany in Group F.

An own goal from 32-year-old Borussia Dortmund central defender Mats Hummels proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Hummels diverted Lucas Hernandez’s cross into his own net from close range.

Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema had goals ruled out because of offside, while Rabiot hit the outside of the post.

Rabiot is delighted with the final result, though, and believes that he and his teammates showed on Tuesday evening that they can go all the way in the competition.

The Juventus star is quoted on saying by GFFN: “”This is a victory for the whole squad, we showed superb spirit tonight. It augurs well, we have to continue like this, there will certainly be simpler matches to play for us, but we had to pull it out the bag tonight.”

The win against Germany means that France are now second in Group F with three points, behind leaders Portugal on goal difference.

Portugal kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign with a 3-0 win against Hungary.

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals for Portugal.

France’s next game is against Hungary on Saturday, and they are priced at 7/1 on Betfair to win it 3-0.
