AC Milan are reportedly eyeing a deal for Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren.

According to Sky in Italy, the Croatian defender is one of the Serie A club’s top targets for this summer as they look to rebuild following Gennaro Gattuso’s exit. However, the report also explains that whilst Milan have not yet submitted an offer for Lovren, they are expected to do so once they install a new manager.

The now 29-year-old has been with Liverpool since joining from Premier League rivals Southampton in 2014. He has endured an inconsistent stint at Anfield, falling in and out of favour due to form and injuries. He also only managed to make only 18 appearances last season as the Reds lifted the UEFA Champions League crown and missed out on their first-ever Premier League title under current boss Jurgen Klopp.

Lovren has made 170 appearances for Liverpool in his time, scoring seven goals. His most memorable strike arguably came against Borussia Dortmund back in 2016 as the Reds staged a dramatic comeback to progress to the UEFA Europe League semi-finals.

Should he move to Serie A and Milan, he will hope to end the club’s long wait for a league title. The Rossoneri currently sit at 16/1 with William Hill to win the league in 2019/20.
