Samir Nasri FranceManchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has said that he does not expect to be named in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad in spite of playing a key role in helping his club win the Premier League title.

The 26-year-old scored the opening goal in the 2-0 triumph over West Ham to help Manchester City clinch the league trophy and take his goal tally to seven this season.

However, having last featured for France in November 2013, Nasri does not think he will be included in his country’s World Cup squad.

“I think the dye is cast. I respect (Didier Deschamps’) choice. I’ll watch the World Cup on TV,” Nasri told Canal +.

“If starting games in a club like Manchester City and winning two titles isn’t enough, too bad, I won’t regret anything.”

The highly rated midfielder was dropped from the squad following a disappointing performance in the World Cup play-offs against Ukraine, and it appears he has since fallen out with coach Didier Deschamps.

France will be vying Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras for a top spot in Group E, and les Bleus are 1.80 (4/5) to finish top of their group.
