Marco Reus injuryGermany enjoyed a 6-1 triumph over Armenia in the final warm-up game for the 2014 World Cup, but the win came at a cost as Marco Reus picked up an injury.

The Borussia Dortmund star had to come off just before the half-time break as he suffered an ankle problem and was immediately sent for a scan on his injury.

Germany boss Joachim Low has all but confirmed Reus is doubtful for the 2014 World Cup, but also suggested he is ready to wait for his star player until the very last minute.

“He is being examined as we speak in hospital and we will wait and see what comes out of it,” Low told reporters after the Armenia game.

“A lot goes through your head at that moment and you just hope it is not too bad but then you see it swell up a bit. I hope the ligaments hold up.

“Until 24 hours before the first World Cup game, according to the rules, we can nominate someone else.”

Germany have until 24 hours before their opening game against Portugal, where they are 2.20 (6/5) favourites for the win, to replace Reus with a new player.

Should the Dortmund forward fail to recover in time, Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski will probably be drafted into the starting line-up as he scored a goal and set up three more after coming on for Reus.
