Spain vs NetherlandsThe pick of first round fixtures will see the 2010 World Cup finalists Spain and Netherlands meet for the first time since Andres Iniesta’s extra time goal proved enough for La Furia Roja to win the coveted title.

Having also won Euro 2008 and Euro 2012, Spain arrive in Brazil searching for their fourth successive title at major tournament and they are 7.50 (13/2) to succeed in their quest.

Vincent Del Bosque seems to have sorted out his main issue by persuading Diego Costa to switch his allegiance to Spain, while he surprised everyone by preferring Fernando Torres to in-form Fernando Llorente.

The remainder of the squad pretty much picked itself, with Atletico Madrid starlet Koke handed a deserved call-up.

Spain did not really impress in friendly wins over Bolivia and El Salvador, but everyone could see the players did not want to waste too much energy after a long season.

La Furia Roja is, however, expected to give their best in the opening fixture against the Netherlands, where they are 1.87 (20/23) favourites to claim maximum points.

Jordi Alba should start despite complaining of a toothache, while Diego Costa should be preferred to Fernando Torres after recovering from injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Casillas – Juanfran, Ramos, Pique, Alba – Xavi, Busquets, Alonso – Silva, Costa, Iniesta.

Netherlands have come a long way since the 2010 World Cup final, and their journey has not been without problems.

Louis van Gaal took over the reigns after the team crashed out in group stage at Euro 2012, introducing a plethora of young and talented players, while only keeping several more experienced players.

In spite of major changes, Oranje were pretty convincing in the qualifiers, winning nine of ten games, but their displays in international friendlies did leave a lot to be desired.

The experienced coach surprisingly opted to switch to 5-3-2 formation of late, although he has hinted he will revert to a four-man back line when his opponents play with one striker as that will be the case against La Furia Roja.

However, with holders Spain their first opposition at the tournament finals, Netherlands are available at 2.05 (21/20) not to lose their opening fixture.

Louis van Gaal has absolutely no injury worries at the moment as Jonathan De Guzman recovered from a hamstring problem, and he looks set to start against Spain.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Cillessen – Janmaat, de Vrij, Vlaar, Martins Indi – de Guzman, de Jong, Blind – Sneijder – Van Persie, Robben.
