Wayne Rooney has been given a final, farewell call-up to the England squad for the match against the USA, the FA have confirmed.

The Three Lions take on the United States at Wembley Stadium on the 14th of November in an international friendly. Rooney will be a part of that England squad, making his 120th and final appearance for his country.

The FA have further announced that the game will be titled a Wayne Rooney Foundation international, further assisting the DC United man and his charitable interests.

Rooney, now plying his trade in Major League Soccer with DC United, originally retired from international football 14 months ago. His last appearance came in a 3-0 victory over Scotland in November 2016.

He has been in great form for his club this season, scoring 12 goals in 20 games to lead the club into the MLS playoffs.

Now 33, Rooney is currently England’s record goalscorer and second in the all-time appearance list. He had previously netted 53 goals in his career with the Three Lions, four ahead of second-placed Bobby Charlton.

Rooney’s current club were eliminated in the MLS Playoff Conference first knockout round by Columbus Crew last week. The favourites to win MLS Cup are Atlanta United and they can be backed at 10/3 with Betfred.
