Under-fire Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been ‘offered’ the chance to join AS Roma, according to reports.

According to Italian newspaper La Reppublica, current Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco is likely to leave the club at the end of the season with Sarri potentially being eyed as his replacement.

The Italian, only appointed at Stamford Bridge last summer, is under extreme scrutiny at the current time. Chelsea currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, 15 points off of current leaders Manchester City. The Blues have suffered a few embarrassing results in recent times, culminating in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, alongside a 6-0 loss to Pep Guardiola’s men. They have also been eliminated from the FA Cup following a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, a result which saw supporters turn on Sarri.

Should he take the Roma post, it would see Sarri return to Italy after less than a year in England. He was named as Serie A Manager of the Year during the 2016/17 season in his previous role with Napoli.

The 60-year-old is the clear frontrunner to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post. The odds on him to leave Stamford Bridge are 1/4 with Paddy Power.
