Red-hot Chelsea are already in a position to be fighting for the second trophy of the season, and having missed out on the first one to Manchester City, the Blues will be very motivated to make things right in the UEFA Super Cup clash at Stade Louis II.

Reigning Europa League champions Atletico Madrid are fresh from the 4-0 hammering of Athletic Bilbao, so they, too, can be trusted to work some magic in Monaco and deliver another impressive attacking performance.

Chelsea have done brilliantly to end the last season with two major trophies to their name, but rather than resting on their laurels, the club officials decided to act and seem to have created a team capable of fighting for honours this term.

Eden Hazard has been by far the best signing of the transfer window in English Premier League, having almost single-handedly led the Blues to three opening wins in the league championship, with Fernando Torres profiting a great deal from having the Belgian as well as Juan Mata behind him.

With Marko Marin, Oscar, Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta yet to show what they are capable of, the Blues fans have every right to feel optimistic about team’s chances this term.

Judging by team’s last few showings under Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea look a good bet to win the Super Cup match in regular time at odds of 2.30 (13/10) offered by bet365.

If you believe that Fernando Torres will continue the good scoring run against his former club, then back him to score at odds of 2.70 (17/10) offered at Paddy Power.

John Terry returns to the side after recovering from a neck injury, while Frank Lampard is also back after he was rested for the Newcastle game.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Cech – Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Cole – Lampard, Mikel – Ramires, Mata, Hazard – Torres.

Atletico Madrid have experienced a similar destiny to that of Chelsea seeing that the arrival of Diego Simeone completely transformed the team that had been pretty disappointing up until that moment.

After leading los Colchoneros to the Europa League title and fifth-place finish in La Liga, the Argentine coach wants to see further improvement this term and the Super Cup trophy would definitely be a step in the right direction.

The 4-0 La Liga win over very good Athletic Bilbao showed the team are fully prepared for the Chelsea clash, with William Hill paying 2.38 (11/8) on Atletico to lift the trophy.

Given that Radamel Falcao Garcia bagged a hat-trick at the weekend and that he is famous for impressing in big matches, odds of 2.88 (17/9) offered at Stan James on the Colombian to score look a real gift.

Boss Diego Simeone has absolutely no selection worries before the Chelsea game, although Adrian Lopez is set to return after being rested against Athletic.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Courtois – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Filipe Luis – Tiago, Gabi – Adrian, Turan, Rodriguez – Falcao.
