Having been placed in the same group as holders Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund will probably be vying for the second place.

Therefore, both sides will want to gain an early advantage over their rivals by winning the Wednesday’s clash at Wembley.

Spurs were pretty disappointing in their previous Champions League campaign, crashing out in the group stage, and they again face a difficult task.

However, this time they’ve got some more experience in the squad and we wouldn’t be surprised if they make it to the next stage.

Tottenham did not impress in the opening exchanges this season, but they have been showing improvement and the 3-0 triumph over Everton could prove the turning point.

Star striker Harry Kane got back amongst the goals with a brace at Goodison Park and now Spurs look a good bet at 2.35 (27/20) to claim maximum points.

The hosts will have to make do without Dele Alli, who is banned for three matches, while Victor Wanyama is out injured.

New signing Serge Aurier could be handed his debut, while fellow summer recruit Fernando Llorente is likely to play a part as well.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Lloris – Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen – Aurier, Eriksen, Dier, Dembele, Davies – Son – Kane.

Borussia Dortmund have been on a downtrend of late, although the current season had a pretty good start for the Millionaires.

The Signal-Iduna Park outfit were somewhat unfortunate to lose the German Super Cup match to Bayern Munich, but they quickly recovered from the disappointment.

Borussia went on to win next three games without conceding, before being held to a goalless draw by Freiburg last weekend.

Having lost four of last seven Champions League fixtures on the road, the Millionaires could face a tough task at the Wembley Stadium.

Dortmund manager Peter Bosz has serious selection problems as Jualian Weigl, Raphael Guerreiro, Marco Reus and Andre Schurrle are definitely out.

Meanwhile, Erik Durm, Marc Bartra and Marcel Schmelzer all face fitness tests and could also miss the Tottenham game.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Burki – PIszczek, Toprak, Papastathopoulos, Zagadou – Castro, Sahin, Gotze – Pulisic, Aubameyang, Philipp.
