Real Madrid vs CSKA Moscow preview

The late goal CSKA Moscow scored in the first leg should guarantee us a very interesting clash at Santiago Bernabeu, even if Real Madrid remain hot favourites to go through.

Los Blancos have been playing great football throughout the season and they are already considered one of the favourites for the Champions League trophy.

While Real are just 1.14 (1/7) with Ladbrokes to win this clash, they are 3.50 (5/2) with bet365 to lift the Champions League title.

Los Merengues have been absolutely brilliant in La Liga this season, having won every one of their last 11 league games, although they were made to work hard for the win against Real Betis.

Real are now rated hot favourites to beat CSKA at their Santiago Bernabeu, and they are expected to all guns blazing at their opponents from the off.

Karim Benzema looks set to start after recovering from injury, but Angel Di Maria remains sidelined. Fabio Coentrao is back, but he will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Casillas – Arbeloa, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo – Khedira, Alonso – Ozil, Kaka, Ronaldo – Benzema.

Russian Premier League sides tend to experience a major issue when they reach Champions League knockout stages, as their domestic campaign doesn’t resume until after the first leg.

CSKA Moscow can, therefore, be satisfied with the 1-1 result at Luzhniki, even if it leaves them little chance to make it through to the next stage.

The Army Men should be in better shape now, having already played two league games, although home draws against Zenit and Dinamo Moscow cannot keep them in good stead for the Real Madrid game.

The good news is that boss Leonid Slutsky has no fresh injury worries, meaning he will be able to field his strongest line-up, and with so much attacking potential within the ranks, backing CSKA to score at odds of 2.05 (21/20) offered by Stan James could go a long way.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Chepchugov – A. Berezoutski, V. Berezoutski, Ignashevich, Schennikov – Wernbloom, Aldonin – Musa, Dzagoev, Honda – Doumbia.
