Monaco vs ArsenalMonaco may have recorded an impressive 3-1 win at the Emirates in the first leg, but they still need to get the job done and secure progress into the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Arsenal aim to become the first side in the competition to come from two goals behind in an away leg and go through.

While many doubted Monaco’s credentials after club chiefs had decided to take serious budget cuts and allowed several star players to leave, new coach Leonardo Jardim and his charges have proved all the doubters wrong.

The Principality club were unable to mount a serious title challenge in Ligue 1, but the mere fact they are still very much in the race for a top 3 finish speaks volumes about their performances.

Nevertheless, Monaco reserved their best showings for Europe’s elite competition, winning what was a pretty evenly matched group.

The Principality club then recorded one of the best results in recent history having defeated Arsenal at the Emirates in the first leg of the last 16 stage tie.

The 3-1 win from the first match makes them hot favourites to qualify for the next stage, with Monaco 3.30 (23/10) to win the return leg as well.

Ricardo Carvalho has returned into action since missing the match at the Emirates, but Jeremy Toulalan, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco are all rated doubtful.

Wallace returns from domestic suspension, while Lacina Traore, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Andrea Raggi continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Subasic – Fabinho, Carvalho, Abdennour, Kurzawa – Silva, Toulalan, Moutinho – Dirar, Berbatov, Martial.

Arsenal may be playing their best football of the season, but the costly defeat to Monaco remains the stain on an otherwise impressive period.

The Gunners not only seriously improved their top 4 hopes, but they are now on the verge of climbing to second in English Premier League.

Arsenal recorded five league wins on the bounce to cement their place in the top 3, while also moving one step closer to defending the FA Cup trophy.

The away triumph over Manchester United was seen as another major boost, and the Gunners are now 2.38 (11/8) to beat Monaco on the road.

Arsene Wenger has no fresh injury worries, although the likes of Wilshere, Chamberlain, Paulista, Arteta, Diaby and Debuchy remain on the sidelines.

Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin and Danny Welbeck are all expected to return after they were rested in the weekend’s triumph over West Ham.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Ospina – Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal – Cazorla, Coquelin, Ozil – Sanchez, Giroud, Welbeck.
