Borussia Dortmund vs ArsenalBorussia Dortmund gained the upper hand over Arsenal with the somewhat fortunate victory at the Emirates, but another positive result is a must if the Millionaires are to get closer to the knockout stages.

Meanwhile, the Gunners cannot really afford to suffer another defeat to the German giants, and the weekend’s victory over Liverpool could be just the boost they need to get their Champions League campaign back on track.

Even with key midfielder Mario Gotze leaving the club for arch rivals Bayern, Borussia Dortmund appear to be even stronger than last term, with the likes of Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Papastathopoulos all making instant impact at Signal-Iduna Park.

Some amazing attacking displays in German Bundesliga have seen Jurgen Klopp’s side close the gap behind leaders Bayern to a single point, while they have returned to the right track in Europe as well.

Qualification from the group of death looked to be quite difficult following the opening defeat to Napoli, but the Millionaires then recorded back to back triumphs over Marseille and Arsenal to climb to the second place in the standings.

Given that the top three teams in the group sit tied on points, Borussia need to record another victory over Arsenal, and they are 1.73 (8/11) favourites to succeed in their quest.

Having scored a hat-trick in weekend’s 6-1 win over Stuttgart, Robert Lewandowski is 2.06 (35/33) to continue his scoring run.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Neven Subotic are set to be recalled, but Ilkay Gundogan and Lukas Piszczek remain on the sidelines. Captain Sebastian Kehl returns from an ankle problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller – Grosskreutz, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer – Benderm Sahin – Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan, Reus – Lewandowski.

Arsenal fans had spent the entire summer criticizing Arsene Wenger for the lack of transfer activity and they probably doubted the Frenchman and his squad even after Mesut Ozil was snatched on transfer deadline day.

However, the Gunners have done brilliantly to prove the doubters wrong and are now considered one of Europe’s in-form sides.

Not too many people saw Arsenal as genuine title contenders in the Premier League following the opening defeat to Aston Villa, but the team have been absolutely brilliant since, having created a five-point cushion at the top.

The Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund has been the only major setback this season, but the Gunners still have enough time to make things right.

With the team buoyed by the weekend’s triumph over Liverpool, there is certainly value in odds of 5.15 (83/20) offered on away win

Jack Wilshire, Kieran Gibbs and Theo Walcott continue to miss out, but the trio could be in line for return in Sunday’s match against Manchester United.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Szczesny – Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal – Ramsey, Arteta – Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla – Giroud.
