Bayern vs AtleticoAs Atletico Madrid won all five group games, they will finish top of the group even if they lose at Allianz Arena, although los Colchoneros will want to make amends for some poor results of late.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, will be eager to prove they are much better than their latest performances are showing.

It is fair to say that the Bavarians have failed to impress under Carlo Ancelotti, and they are still trying to rediscover their form.

Oddly enough, Bayern Munich trail newly-promoted RB Leipzig three points in the Bundesliga title chase, while their performances in Europe also leave a lot to be desired.

The Bavarians were beaten by Atletico Madrid at Vicente Calderon, while they also lost to FK Rostov two weeks ago, meaning they need to beat a top side in order to return to the right track.

Bayern have shown some improvement in recent weeks, recording back to back wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz, and they are now 1.67 (2/3) favourites to defeat los Colchoneros.

Thomas Muller should keep his place in the middle of the park after impressing against Mainz, but Douglas Costa is likely to return to the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Kimmich, Martinez, Hummels, Alaba – Lahm, Thiago – Robben, Muller, Douglas Costa – Lewandowski.

Atletico Madrid have experienced plenty of problems in the league this season and they now sit huge nine points behind leaders Real Madrid.

However, los Colchoneros have largely impressed in this year’s Champions League, winning all five fixtures to secure the first place in the group with a game to spare.

This was by no means an easy feat as witnessed by Bayern Munich’s 3-0-2 record, and, judging by the squad Diego Simeone selected for the trip to Allianz Arena, Atletico clearly want to make it six on the bounce.

With the first place in the group already secured, the Argentine coach is almost certain to rest some key men, but he is, nonetheless, expected to field a strong side.

Filipe Luis and Tiago Mendes did not make the trip as they are not in the best physical shape, while August Fernandez and Alessio Cerci are out injured.

Fernando Torres is included after recovering from a muscle problem, while youngster Caio Henrique makes the squad as well.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Oblak – Juanfran, Savic, Hernandez, Vrsaljko – Gaitan, Gabi, Koke, Saul – Torres, Correa.
