Atletico vs RealLast year’s finalists will square off in the quarter-finals this season, and the game at Vicente Calderon will be incredible seventh meeting between the two sides this term alone.

Having won four of those matches while drawing the other two, Atletico Madrid will be feeling optimistic heading into Tuesday’s clash, but Real Madrid are, nonetheless, seen as favourites to win.

With the squad having undergone major changes in the summer, nobody was surprised to see los Colchoneros struggle at times this season, but it was their amazing results in matches with their bitter rivals that proved Diego Simeone’s charges have quality to match even Europe’s strongest sides.

Atletico may have failed to mount a serious title challenge in either La Liga or Copa del Rey, but they hammered Real Madrid 4-0 last time out, which is bound to give them the extra edge in the upcoming Champions League encounter.

Los Colchoneros ended a four-match winning run as they shared spoils with Malaga at the weekend, but nobody is going to be too worried after the draw at La Rosaleda.

Atletico now aim to record the fifth victory of the season over Real Madrid and they are 2.88 (17/9) to succeed in their quest.

First choice keeper Miguel Angel Moya has recovered from injury and is expected to take over from Jan Oblak in goal after missing last few matches.

There have been more good news for Diego Simeone given that both Mario Mandzukic and Raul Garcia resumed full training this week.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Moya – Juanfran, Godin, Miranda, Siqueira – Turan, Gabi, Tiago, Koke – Mandzukic, Griezmann.

Real Madrid strive to become the first ever team to lift the Champions League title two times in a row, and just like last season, los Blancos need to beat their local rivals in order to get closer to their objective.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side defeated Atletico in last year’s final, with Sergio Ramos’ last-gasp goal proving crucial, but the team have since failed to win any of next six matches against los Colchoneros.

And with the 4-0 loss at Vicente Calderon still fresh in the players’ minds, the visitors will need no special motivation ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Having closed the gap behind La Liga leaders Barcelona to two points, Real Madrid are now 2.70 (17/10) to finally end the barren run against Atletico.

In order to stand any chance of winning this game, the visitors will need superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to be at his best, and after scoring seven goals in last three outings, the Portuguese forward is 2.60 (8/5) to score anytime.

Gareth Bale returns to the side from injury, while a number of first team regulars will be recalled after they were rested at the weekend.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Casillas – Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo – Modric, Kroos, Rodriguez – Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo.
