Roberto SorianoLa Liga high flyers Villarreal are set to complete the signing of Italian midfielder Roberto Soriano from Sampdoria, Sky Sport Italia has learned.

The Italy international had been on the verge of joining Napoli last summer, but the deal eventually fell through at the last minute.

Nonetheless, Soriano is set to realise a big club move as Villarreal have had a €13.5 million bid accepted for his services.

Only minor details are left to be sorted, and with the attacking midfielder quite happy to move to El Madrigal, the transfer should be announced by the end of the week.

Roberto Soriano, who had come through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich, has been with Sampdoria since 2010, registering 18 goals and 12 assists in 145 competitive outings for the club.

His new club Villarreal are expected to mount another top 4 challenge in Spanish La Liga, and they have already recruited Denis Cheryshev, Alfred N’Diaye and Alexandre Pato this summer.
