Sevilla vs Valencia preview

Valencia vs SevillaLast year’s top 6 rivals Sevilla and Valencia square off at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan at the start of the new La Liga campaign.

Cash-strapped los Rojiblancos were again forced to sell their key players as Ivan Rakitic and Alberto Moreno both left, but they did manage to make some shrewd signings this summer.

Late arrival from Valencia Ever Banega could prove to be the bargain of the season, while the likes of Deulofeu, Arribas, Krychowiak, Aspas and Vidal will also be looking to impress.

In spite of some good results in pre-season, los Rojiblancos were unable to match mighty Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup match, losing 2-0, but they hope to fare much better at the start of the La Liga championship.

And with Sevila unbeaten in last 14 home matches against Valencia (W11 D3), you should know home win pays 2.10 (11/10) at Betfred.

Unai Emery is not without problems ahead of the clash with his former club as important forward Kevin Gameiro is set for a six-week spell on the sidelines.

New signing Ever Banega should be in contention, while Jose Reyes, Diogo, Alejandro Arribas, Piotr Trochowski and Sebastian Cristoforo continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Beto – Coke, Pareja, Fazio, Navarro – Krychowiak, Carrico – Vidal, Deulofeu, Vitolo – Bacca.

Following several very difficult years for the club, Valencia appear ready to return to old glory days, with wealthy businessman Peter Lim expected to complete the club takeover in the coming weeks.

Los Che enter the new campaign with a much changed squad seeing as how Senderos, Keita, Vargas, Romeu, Bernat, Rami, Ricardo Costa, Mathieu, Guaita, Marin, Ruiz, Cissokho and Banega are no longer at Mestalla.

Valencia have signed some very good players as well, with De Paul, Rodrigo Moreno, Andre Gomes, Mustafi, Orban, Zuculini and Cancelo joining, while few more quality footballers are expected to follow.

In spite of the major changes, los Che looked pretty good in pre-season, defeating Benfica and Milan while giving a good account of themselves in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, but it is perfectly clear this is still a team in the making.

It is for that reason that I doubt Valencia can end the barren run at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, even if they are 3.90 (29/10) to defeat Sevilla.

Jonas, Helder Postiga and Jonathan Viera are not in contention as they are expected to leave the club, while there are no fresh injury worries for coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Alves – Barragan, Mustafi, Otamendi, Orban – Gomes, Fuego, Parejo – Rodrigo, Alcacer, Piatti.
