fabregas messiBarcelona superstar Lionel Messi has resumed training after a lengthy injury lay-off, meaning he is in contention to face Real Madrid in El Clasico.

The Catalans will have the opportunity to move six points clear at the La Liga summit when they take on their arch rivals at Santiago Bernabeu, with away win paying 3.00 (2/1).

And coach Luis Enrique has received a huge boost ahead of the high-profile clash as his star player Lionel Messi returned to training after seven weeks.

The Argentine forward has been out with a knee problem since the end of September, but having trained yesterday, he has a chance of making the bench for the El Clasico game.

Messi appears to have not been too sorely missed over the last couple of months with Luis Suarez and Neymar in excellent form, but no doubt his return will be a huge lift for the entire squad.

Before suffering an injury, the 28-year-old had only managed 3 goals in 6 league appearances, which is pretty disappointing for his standards.
