After holding Celta to a goalless draw at Balaidos, Deportivo Alaves are in a good position to secure their place in the Copa del Rey final.

The Sky Blues may have missed their chance in the first leg, but they will have another one when the two sides square off at Estadio de Mendizorozza.

Deportivo Alaves have been enjoying a very successful season considering that they had only just returned to the elite division.

Team’s league campaign is going according to plan seeing that El Glorioso have all but secured La Liga survival midway through the season.

Namely, the 4-2 away win over relegation-threatened Sporing Gijon saw them create a 14-point advantage over the bottom three, meaning they can now fully focus on the Copa del Rey campaign.

Deportivo Alaves head into the second leg clash with Celta high on confidence having gone six games without a defeat, keeping a clean sheet in four of those fixtures.

El Glorioso have complained about having to play at the weekend while their opponents had a clash against Real Madrid called off, but the FA refused to postpone the Wednesday’s game.

Head coach Mauricio Pellegrino will have fully fit squad to select from and he will recall a number of players after they were rested at the weekend.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Pacheco – Femenia, Laguardia, Feddal, Hernandez – Llorente, Manu Garcia – Toquero, Camarasa, Ibai – Deyverson.

Celta Vigo have been at the centre of a lot of controversy over the past few days, although they were hardly to blame for the events that unfolded.

It all started with their league clash against Real Madrid being called off due to the Balaidos Stadium being unsafe to play at after a storm had severely damaged the roof.

Deportivo Alaves immediately pointed the finger at Celta, accusing them of taking advantage of the situation to rest their players ahead of the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg, but the reality is that the Sky Blues would have probably fielded a second string side vs Real in the first place.

Celta now need to put all the media frenzy behind them and focus on the match at Estadio de Mendizorozza, where they are 2.75 (7/4) to win in 90 minutes.

There have been some good news for coach Eduardo Berizzo as Claudio Beauvue and Ruben Blanco have stepped up their recovery, although they will not be back in action for another few weeks.

Just like his counterpart, the Argentine tactician is widely expected to field his strongest side in the all-important game on Wednesday.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Alvarez – Mallo, Cabral, Roncaglia, Jonny – Diaz, Radoja, Hernandez – Aspas, Guidetti, Bongonda.
