Real vs Atletico 0-1Having held their arch rivals to a 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabeu, Atletico will attempt to build on that result and secure the first trophy of the season.

Los Blancos were somewhat unfortunate to concede the equalizer late into the game after outplaying their rivals, but they remain the favourites to lift the Spanish Super Cup trophy.

This is without a doubt going to be a testing campaign for Atletico Madrid, who need to prove they are not a one-season wonder.

Los Colchoneros were powerless to prevent star players from leaving, but they did manage to earn a nice profit as well as sign some very good replacements.

Diego Simeone’s new-look side will need some time to hit the ground running, but their competitive streak is already there as witnessed by the hard-fought 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup first leg.

Atletico were on the back foot for most of the game and conceded a late goal, but they showed a lot of character to equalize in the dying moments of the match.

Even if Real Madrid remain the favourites, los Colchoneros can be backed at 2.25 (5/4) to win the first trophy of the season.

Arda Turan continues to miss out with a hamstring injury, while Juanfran is a slight doubt for the Real Madrid match.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-2-1): Moya – Juanfran, Godin, Miranda, Siqueira – Mario, Gabi, Saul – Raul Garcia, Koke – Mandzukic.

Unlike their next opponents, Real Madrid kept all the key men in the side, while adding several cracking players and they definitely have big ambitions for the current season.

Things started well for los Blancos as they recorded a comfortable win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup, but they were unable to continue the winning run against Atletico.

Summer signing James Rodriguez scored his first goal for the club after replacing Cristiano Ronaldo, but Real could not hold on to the lead and eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

According to the bookies, los Blancos are still in a good position to win the tie, as they are 2.30 (13/10) to emerge victorious in the second leg.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is doubtful with a back injury, while Jese Rodriguez remains on the sidelines.

James Rodriguez is expected to return to the starting line-up, but Angel Di Maria will again have to settle for a place on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Casillas – Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo – Kroos, Alonso, Modric – Bale, Benzema, Rodriguez.
