Real vs Atletico 0-1Atletico Madrid seem to face mission impossible having suffered a 3-0 defeat in the first leg, but Diego Simeone is definitely not someone who would surrender without a fight.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, aim to finish the job at Vicente Calderon and secure their place in Copa del Rey for the second year running.

Los Colchoneros may be enjoying one of the most successful seasons in recent years, but they find themselves in all sorts of problems following the events from last week.

Atletico are on the verge of crashing out of Copa del Rey having been hammered at Santiago Bernabeu, whereas the 2-0 league loss to Almeria also came at a bad time.

At the same time, Diego Simeone has lost several important players through injury, and that has probably been the main reason for some under-par performances.

And while Atletico are not exactly in a good position to qualify for the Copa del Rey final, they will at least try to win the return leg and this improve the atmosphere in the squad.

Having beaten Real Madrid two times in a row before last week’s defeat, los Colchoneros are 3.00 (2/1) for the win.

The hosts should have keeper Thibaut Courtois back after he missed the Almeria game, but David Villa and Filipe Luis remain sidelined.

Koke returns from La Liga suspension, but Tiago Mendes is set for a spell on the sidelined after suffering a knee injury at the weekend.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Courtois – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Insua – Koke, Gabi – Garcia, Diego, Turan – Costa.

Unlike their next opponents, Real Madrid have largely impressed of late and their season finally appear to be going according to plan.

Los Blancos not only virtually secured their place in Copa del Rey final, but also closed the gap behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in La Liga, with all three teams now tied on points.

The only minor worry is a three-match league ban for superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, but Carlo Ancelotti has more than enough quality options to compensate even for such an amazing player.

The 4-2 triumph over very good Villarreal side was the perfect proof as the likes of Bale, Jese, Benzema and Di Maria stepped up the plate to ensure the Portuguese was not missed.

Ronaldo is, however, set to return for the Atletico game, so no wonder Real are 2.50 (3/2) favourites to win the return match as well.

Carlo Ancelotti has some defensive worries as both Fabio Coentrao and Marcelo look set to miss out, with Sami Khedira also unavailable.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Casillas – Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Arbeloa – Modric, Alonso – Bale, Isco, Ronaldo – Benzema.
