Barca vs AtleticoNew-look Atletico Madrid will be looking to prove they have what it takes to mount a serious title challenge this term, with los Colchoneros looking to build on the 3-0 hammering of Sevilla.

Meanwhile, Barcelona were far from convincing in the first two matches despite recording two 1-0 wins, and they need to show improvement in order to win in Madrid.

Atletico Madrid may have failed to challenge the El Clasico rivals for the La Liga trophy last term, but they appear ready to make things right this season.

The club management again did a wonderful job in the summer transfer window, cashing in on Arda Turan, Mandzukic, Alderweireld and Mario, while signing a number of high-quality footballers.

The likes of Jackson Martinez, Luciano Vietto, Filipe Luis, Stefan Savic and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco should all have a role to play this season and it is just the matter of integrating them into the squad as quickly as possible.

And judging by the first two games of the season, that is unlikely to be a problem, with Atletico recording 1-0 and 3-0 wins over Las Palmas and Sevilla respectively.

With los Colchoneros heading into the derby clash high on confidence, it is important to note that home win pays 3.40 (12/5).

Tiago Mendes remains doubtful through a muscle problem, but Filipe Luis should return to the side after recovering from injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Oblak – Juanfran, Gimenez, Godin, Filipe Luis – Koke, Gabi, Tiago, Oliver Torres – Griezmann, Fernando Torres.

Due to the much publicised transfer ban, Barcelona entered the new season with a virtually unchanged squad, with only Pedro Rodriguez leaving to join Chelsea.

New signings Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal will only be registered in January, meaning Luis Enrique had to rely on tried and tested players.

Following the impressive triumph over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup, the Catalans suffered an embarrassing 5-1 aggregate loss in the Spanish Super Cup, but they have since managed to show some improvement.

And while back to back wins over Athletic and Malaga were far from impressive, at least they helped improve the atmosphere in the squad.

Barcelona now face a tough trip to Vicente Calderon after the international break, but odds of 2.25 (5/4) offered on away win do look tempting.

Gerard Pique misses the game through suspension, whereas Claudio Bravo, Dani Alves, Sergi Roberto and Douglas Perreira are out injured.

The latest reports suggest that Leo Messi and Javier Mascherano will be in the starting line-up despite arriving late from international duty.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): ter Stegen – Adriano, Mascherano, Vermaelen, Alba – Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta – Messi, Suarez, Neymar.
