Alessio CerciSpanish champions Atletico Madrid have announced they have reached an agreement to sign Torino forward Alessio Cerci.

Los Cochoneros have been very active in the summer transfer window in an attempt to sign quality replacements for several key players and the Italy international appears to be the final piece of the puzzle.

Atletico have successfully ended long-drawn negotiations with Torino to recruit one of Serie A’s most wanted players.

“He will contribute speed, goals and he’s going to give us more alternatives in our attacking play,” sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero was quoted as saying.

Alessio Cerci, 27, was in stunning form last season, having managed 13 goals and 10 assists in 37 Serie A outings, which eventually saw him named in Italy’s World Cup squad.

Atletico Madrid haven’t enjoyed the best of starts to the new campaign having shared spoils with local rivals Rayo Vallecano in the opening fixture, but they are 17.00 (16/1) to defend the league title after defeating Eibar at the weekend.
