Shinji Kagawa is set for a second exit from Borussia Dortmund and is interesting Spanish outfit Sevilla, according to German publication, kicker.

The report suggests that Pablo Machín’s men are close to securing the signature of the Japanese international despite him extended his contract with Dortmund until 2020 only last summer.

Kagawa has enjoyed two spells at the Westfalenstadion since joining from Cerezo Osaka in 2010. In that time, he has made 212 appearances, scoring 60 goals and creating a further 54. The now 29-year-old has lifted plenty of silverware in Germany having won both the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal on two occasions.

Kagawa also had a short spell at Manchester United but found opportunities hard to come by following the arrival of Juan Mata at the club, resulting in a return to Dortmund.

Despite his productivity with the club, he now again seems surplus to requirements and did not appear at all during pre-season under Lucien Favre. His chances also seem even more limited considering the loan capture of Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer.

Unsurprisingly, Dortmund are still behind rivals Bayern Munich in the race for the Bundesliga crown, according to the bookmakers. With the addition of Alcacer, Favre’s men are priced at 8/1 to win the league come the end of the 2018/19 campaign with William Hill.
