Paris Saint Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Neymar will not become captain at the club, insisting the Brazilian does not have the ‘profile’.

The Brazilian forward, who has enjoyed a productive season despite injuries ruling him out for a considerable amount of time, is currently the captain of his country but that does not appear to be the case with his club.

Talking after his side’s 2-1 win over Angers, Tuchel said: “For me, [Neymar] does not have the profile to be the captain with the armband.

“He is a technical leader and attacker. I do not understand why everyone is talking about this thing. We have Thiago Silva and Marquinhos, they are fantastic and we are not going to change.”

In all competitions, Neymar has made 28 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing a further 13 assists.

He could have made his last appearance for the Parisians this season having been handed a three-match ban for lashing out at a fan following PSG’s defeat to Rennes on penalties in the French Cup final.

Tuchel’s men take on Dijon next weekend who are under severe threat of relegation with only two games to go. They sit in 19th and two points adrift of safety. Elsewhere, the main attention will be with Monaco who have a huge game against Amiens. Leonardo Jardim’s men are at 6/10 to earn a huge win.
