John StonesPep Guardiola never hid his desire to bring John Stones to the Etihad.

After a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in a game that proved additional evidence of Manchester City’s defensive troubles, Citizen’s boss Pep Guardiola was keen to make some last gasp cuts in order to trim the backline and prepare it for the beginning of the Premier League season.

With captain Vincent Kompany struggling to remain fit, the Spanish coach has been disappointed with displays from Eliaquim Mangala who is leading the clear-out list as Pep Guardiola is looking to remove the deadwood from his squad.

Sky Sports has today revealed that Manchester City are prepared to listen to offers for Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas, Wilfried Bony and former Porto defender Mangala as Guardiola is nearing a transfer that will increase the tally of more than £90 million spent on new players since his arrival to Etihad.

Namely, Manchester City have made an announcement on a transfer of Everton highly rated defender John Stones after it was revealed on the UEFA website that the 22-year-old England international John Stones has been named in Man City’s Champions League squad to face Steaua Bucharest.

Interestingly enough, Samir Nasri, Bony and Mangala have all been left out of the 21-man list.

Citizens play the away leg against the Romania powerhouse next Thursday and are looking at the odds of 1.50 (1/2) @Coral to emerge victorious from their trip to Bucharest.

The fans are excited to learn that John Stones is finally arriving to bolster the back line as the UEFA Champions League squad list only provided further proof that Manchester City are closing on a deal that was finalised on Tuesday.

Everton wanted £50 million for their man, but City’s initial offer was closer to £40 million. Ultimately the clubs agreed on a £47.5 million deal.
