According to reports, Italian giants Juventus are tracking the progress of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

As per reports in CalcioMercato, the Italian champions are keen on the German as a potential replacement for 32-year-old Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian only signed a new deal with club last year but it only runs until 2020 and Max Allegri’s men are reportedly already looking to the future.

At only 22 years of age, Werner has already become one of the most promising youngsters in world football. After signing from VfB Stuttgart in July 2016, he hit 21 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances as the team earned a UEFA Champions League place in his debut season. The German also hit as many goals in all competitions last season.

The youngster has also managed to rack up 18 appearances for his national side, scoring eight goals in the process. Should he move to Turin, Werner would be competing with a talented bunch of forwards including Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Mandzukic should he remain.

At the time of writing, he is yet to get off the mark in the 2018/19 campaign. Although, he is the favourite to open the scoring against Hannover 96 on Saturday with odds of 7/2 available with bookies William Hill for him to hit the opening goal.
