Torino vs MilanHigh-flying Torino remained close to the Serie A summit in spite of losing to newcomers Carpi, although they will now want to pile more misery on struggling AC Milan.

The Rossoneri slipped to the bottom half of the standings after the embarrassing 4-0 loss to Napoli and no doubt they will have a lot to prove at Stadio Olimpico.

Having spent quite a few years in the shade of local rivals Juventus, Torino are finally developing into an established Serie A side.

Granata have now achieved two straight top half finishes and they appear to be heading towards another one of those.

The club management has played an important role in this uptrend in fortunes, having made a fair share of value signings, with Zappacosta, Obi, Belotti and Baselli just some of the quality players to have arrived this summer.

As a result, Torino enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign, taking 10 points from first 4 fixtures, although they have since suffered a dip in form.

But, while losing to Chievo and Carpi on the road, Granata defeated Palermo at home to prove Stadio Olimpico can already be regarded as a real fortress.

And having won last five matches on home soil, it is hardly surprising Torino have been made 2.50 (3/2) favourites to see off AC Milan as well.

The hosts do have plenty of selection problems with Avelar and Benassi doubtful and Maksimovic, Bruno Peres, Farnerud, Jansson and Obi out injured.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Padelli – Bovo, Glik, Moretti – Zappacosta, Baselli, Vives, Gazzi, Molinaro – Quagliarella, Maxi Lopez.

AC Milan entered the new season with big ambitions, having recruited coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and a number of high-profile footballers.

But, while the Rossoneri have shown promise in some games, they were largely disappointing in others, with four defeats in seven games spelling trouble for the new boss.

AC Milan have now suffered two disappointing defeats in a row, losing to Genoa on the road, before conceding four goals to Napoli at their San Siro.

The heavy scoreline is bound to place extra pressure on the Rossoneri ahead of the match with one of Serie A’s strongest home sides, so no doubt that the visitors will have to improve if they want something out of this game.

AC Milan did defeat Udinese on the road this season while losing to Inter Milan and Genoa, and they are 3.25 (9/4) to make it two wins in four away games.

Sinisa Mihajlovic welcomes back Ignazo Abate and Philippe Mexes, but Mario Balotelli, M’Baye Niang and Jeremy Menez continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Lopez – De Sciglio, Romagnoli, Mexes, Antonelli – Kucka, Montolivo, Berolacci – Bonaventura – Bacca, Adriano.
