Siena vs Bologna preview

Boosted by the impressive victory over Inter at Giuseppe Meazza, Siena aim to continue the good run of results and finally climb out of the bottom three.

Bologna, on the other hand, need to show some improvement after failing to beat struggling Pescara at Renato Dall’Ara.

Siena may be sitting at rock bottom in Italian Serie A, but there is just one reason for it – the 6-point penalty they were slapped with before the league campaign started.

The big deduction clearly had a big effect on the team, as Robur could only take one point from first two games, but then they started showing a lot of improvement.

After coming from two goals behind to earn one point against Udinese, Serse Cosmi’s side recorded a 2-0 victory at Meazza at the weekend, and are now 2.20 (6/5) with Ladbrokes to beat Bologna as well.

Claudio Terzi, Nicola Belmonte, Marcelo Larrondo and Roberto Vitiello are suspended for their involvement in the match-fixing scandal, while Francesco Bolzoni, Matteo Contini and Andrea Campagnolo are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-1-2): Pegolo – Neto, Paci, Felipe – Angelo, Vergassola, D’Agostino, Del Grosso – Rosina – Ze Eduardo, Calaio.

Numerous changes in the playing squad prevented Bologna from hitting the ground running early on, so nobody was too surprised by opening defeats to Chievo and Milan.

The Felsinei then produced a major feat as they came from two goals behind to beat Roma at Olimpico, and the result was expected to help the team kick-start their season.

That did not happen as Bologna could only muster a 1-1 draw with Pescara at the weekend, despite taking the lead and playing with extra man during the final third of the game.

Stefano Pioli’s side will, therefore, have to show a massive improvement if they are to stop in-form Siena, which is why odds of 3.90 (29/10) offered at BetVictor on away win are not too tempting.

Daniele Portanova remains suspended, but the big problem is that key forward Alessandro Diamanti is doubtful with a thigh injury.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-1-2): Agilardi – Antonsson, Natali, Cherubin – Garics, Perez, Guarente, Motta – Taider – Acquafresca, Gilardino.
