Roma vs BayernHaving shown some improvement after a difficult period, Sassuolo will be looking to put a dent into AS Roma’s title bid when they host the Giallorossi in midweek.

The Stadio Olimpico outfit are now just two points behind leaders Juventus and they will fancy their chances of winning in Reggio Emilia.

After securing Europa League football through league finish, Sassuolo now need to balance their energy between two strong competitions, and that is proving a difficult job.

The Neroverdi have so far picked up four points from three group games in Europa League, while occupying ninth position in the Serie A standings.

Following back to back defeats to Genk and AC Milan, Sassuolo have shown improvement to defeat minnows Crotone, before sharing spoils with Rapid Wien and Bologna in their next two fixtures.

The Neroverdi now face a tough task against red-hot AS Roma, but it has to be noted that they have won each of their last four fixtures at home,

Coach Eusebio Di Francesco is expected to ring some changes from the Bologna game, with Alessandro Matri and Marcello Gazzola tipped to start.

However, Domenico Berardi, Timo Letschert, Francesco Magnanelli and Simone Missiroli remain in the treatment room.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Consigli – Mazzola, Cannavaro, Acerbi, Peluso – Biondini, Sensi, Pellegrini – Politano, Matri, Defrel.

It’s been a while since AS Roma were so close to the top of the standings and no doubts they will be looking to make the most of the opportunity.

The Giallorossi have played some good football this season, while also finding some consistency of late and they have now closed the gap behind leaders Juventus to just two points.

AS Roma have won last three league fixtures, defeating top 3 rivals Inter Milan and Napoli before also hammering Palermo and they are now 2.00 (1/1) to see off Sassuolo as well.

The Giallorossi have been far from impressive on the road this season, failing to win any of first five away fixtures, but the 3-1 triumph over Napoli at Stadio San Paolo could be the turning point.

Kevin Strootman and Alessandro Florenzi are expected to be recalled, but Francesco Totti will have to settle for another substitute appearance seeing that Edin Dzeko has been on fire of late.

Meanwhile, there has been no improvement on the injury front, with Thomas Vermaelen, Diego Perotti, Mario Rui and Bruno Peres still sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Szczesny – Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Juan Jesus – Strootman, De Rossi – Salah, Nainggolan, El Shaarawy – Dzeko.
