Roma vs Fiorentina 4-2Having enjoyed a real renaissance under Luciano Spalletti, AS Roma now have the opportunity to cement a top 3 berth against the rivals for Champions League positions.

Fiorentina remained in the hunt with a 1-1 draw against Napoli, and they are aware they cannot afford to lose at Stadio Olimpico.

New coaches usually bring improvement upon taking over the reigns, but rarely did we see one make such an impact as Luciano Spalletti made at AS Roma.

Champions League qualification virtually looked mission impossible when he arrived to replace Rudi Garcia, but fast forward two months and the Giallorossi are now in a very good position.

The Champions League defeat to Real Madrid is unlikely to be a problem now that AS Roma have recorded six straight wins in Serie A and they are 2.10 (11/10) to make it seven on the bounce.

Nevertheless, it is important to note that the game against Fiorentina will be the first vs a top table side at Stadio Olimpico under Luciano Spalletti, do it is not as if the hosts will have an easy job.

Radja Nainggolan should be available for selection after recovering from a muscle problem, but Daniele De Rossi, Norbert Gyomber and Ezequiel Ponce are out injured.

Kostas Manolas and Alessandro Florenzi should be recalled, but Edin Dzeko will again have to settle for a place on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Szczesny – Florenzi, Rudiger, Manolas, Digne – Nainggolan, Keita, Pjanic – Perotti, Salah, El Shaarawy.

Fiorentina are out to end the Champions League curse this term having finished just outside the CL positions three years in a row.

Viola have done really well under coach Paulo Sousa and the recent exit from Europa League is likely to prove a blessing in disguise.

Viola are unbeaten in last seven Serie A fixtures (W4 D3), but the 1-1 draw with Napoli saw them slip to fourth in the league standings.

And having only won one of last five away matches in all competitions, Fiorentina clearly face a tough task against high-flying AS Roma.

Argentine forward Mauro Zarate is banned after his appeal was rejected, whereas Yohan Benalouane is out injured.

Josip Ilicic is likely to remain on the bench, as Cristian Tello looks set to keep his place in the starting line-up, forming a wing partnership with Federico Bernardeschi.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu – Roncaglia, Rodriguez, Astori, Alonso – Vecino, Badelj – Bernardeschi, Valero, Tello – Kalinic.
