Roma vs Cagliari preview

Roma vs CagliariFollowing the entertaining draw at Bologna, Roma will attempt to end their four-match winless run against Cagliari, a team that recovered well from the run of six straight defeats.

Roma needed a lot of time to hut the ground running this season, but some scintillating showings in November and December hinted the Giallorossi might just be able to save this campaign.

Nonetheless, Zdenek Zeman’s side again started to struggle at the turn of the year and they have yet to record a league win in 2013.

While impressing in Coppa Italia to beat Fiorentina away and record a 2-1 win in the first leg of their semi-final clash against Inter, the Giallorossi suffered back to back league defeats to Napoli and Catania.

Having then shared spoils with Inter and Bologna, this could be a perfect opportunity for the long-awaited win.

With that in mind, it is important to note that BetVictor pays 1.55 (11/20) on home win, while the hosts are 1.44 (4/9) at bet365 to score two goals or more.

Under-pressure boss Zdenek Zeman welcomes back Erik Lamela and Daniele De Rossi, but Miralem Pjanic misses out through suspension.

Nico Lopez is away on international duty, whereas Mattia Destro, Federico Balzaretti and Simone Perotta remain in the infirmary.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Goicoechea – Piris, Marquinhos, Castan, Dodo – Bradley, De Rossi, Florenzi – Lamela, Osvaldo, Totti.

Cagliari Calcio needed seven games to record the first win in Serie A, but they then boosted their survival hopes with three more victories on the bounce.

At the time, it looked as though Isolani might just be able to avoid the relegation tussle, but their outstanding run was short-lived.

Since beating Siena at home, Cagliari picked up just two points from next nine league fixtures to get back straight into the danger zone.

The team finally managed to end the dismal run by beating Genoa at home, before sharing spoils with both Atalanta and Palermo.

Cagliari will now give their best to extend the unbeaten run and remain above the bottom three, and having scored in their last eight away games, Isolani are 1.36 (9/25) at Coral to continue the excellent run.

With Ariaudo and Nene resuming full training, boss Ivo Pulga should have fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the trip to the capital.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Agazzi – Pisano, Rossettini, Astori, Avelar – Dessena, Conti, Ekdal – Nainggolan – Pinilla, Sau.
