Mario Gomez nears return into action

Mario Gomez FiorentinaFiorentina striker Mario Gomez could be returning into action in a couple of weeks, according to the latest reports coming from Italy.

The 28-year-old arrived at Artemio Franchi as a marquee signing last summer, but his spell with Viola has been riddled with injuries.

After missing the start of the season through a knee problem, the Germany international picked up a new knee injury some two and a half weeks ago.

And having spent some time in Germany during the recovery process, Mario Gomez is now back in Florence and is set to resume light training.

According to reports, the experienced forward is pencilled to return into action in the league clash against Bologna on 26th April.

Mario Gomez has only made a total of nine league appearances for Viola and went on to score three goals in the process.

Fiorentina cemented the fourth place in the Serie A standings as they defeated Udinese, with Vincenzo Montella’s charges 2.40 (7/5) to see off Hellas Verona as well.
