Genoa vs MilanGenoa will attempt to make amends for the derby defeat to Sampdoria when they host high-flying AC Milan at their Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

That will be no easy task considering that the Rossoneri have just beaten champions Juventus to climb to third in the overall standings.

Genoa have looked pretty good since talented coach Ivan Juric took over the reigns in the summer, taking 12 points from first seven league fixtures.

However, with winger Darko Lazovic missing and top scorer Leonardo Pavoletti not fit to start, the Rossoblu were beaten by local rivals Sampdoria at the weekend.

That means that Genoa will be hoping to show improvement against AC Milan, but they obviously need to be wary of the red-hot Rossoneri.

The Rossoblu are still unbeaten at home this season, but they could only win two of five matches in all competitions, recording three straight draws at Luigi Ferraris.

Darko Lazovic will return to the starting line-up after serving his suspension, whereas Leonardo Pavoletti should be starting as well.

Midfielder Luca Rigoni could be rested as he has complained about fatigue, but Serge Gakpe is not yet ready to return from injury.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-1-2): Perin – Izzo, Burdisso, Gentiletti – Lazovic, Rincon, Veloso, Laxalt – Ntcham – Pavoletti, Simeone.

For the first time in several years, AC Milan fans have reason for optimism, and not only because the new owners have arrived at San Siro.

Namely, the Rossoneri have put together an excellent string of results that saw them climb to third in the standings, and they now sit mere two points behind leaders Juventus.

Many believed that AC Milan’s excellent streak will come to an abrupt end against the Bianconeri, but they instead defeated the reigning champions thanks to Manuel Locatelli’s strike.

Together with Alessio Romagnoli and Davide Calabria, the talented midfielder is one of three very talented youngsters who are now playing on regular basis, which is enough to suggest the future is bright for the Rossoneri.

After winning their last three league fixtures in style, AC Milan can be backed at 2.62 (13/8) to make it four on the bounce in Liguria.

Talented full-back Davide Calabria should be back in contention, but Fernandez, Antonelli, Bertolacci, Montolivo and Vangioni remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Donnarumma – Abate, Paletta, Romagnoli, De Sciglio – Sosa, Kucka, Bonaventura – Suso, Lapadula, Niang.
