FIorentina vs RomaBuoyed by back to back wins over Palermo and Chievo, Fiorentina play host to title chasers Roma, hoping to further improve their top 3 chances.

The Giallorossi suffered a real blow to their title hopes by sharing spoils with Palermo, while they also struggled in the Coppa Italia win over Empoli.

The Europa League campaign seems to have taken the wind out of Fiorentina’s sails considering that Vincenzo Montella’s charges experienced all sorts of problems in the first part of the league campaign.

Viola largely struggled to keep up with their top 3 rivals, but it appears they are finally ready to mount a serious challenge for Champions League positions.

Fiorentina have seriously raised their form of late, winning league matches against Palermo and Chievo, while also hammering Atalanta in Coppa Italia.

And with the team now mere three points behind third-placed Napoli, they can be backed at 2.50 (3/2) to see off Roma and place extra pressure on their rivals.

Having finally rediscovered his scoring form, Mario Gomez should be trusted with leading the line, but centre-back Stefan Savic misses out through suspension.

The infirmary at Artemio Franchi is still quite packed and includes Giuseppe Rossi, Alberto Aquilani, Josip Ilicic, Milan Badelj, Mounir El Hamdaoui, Cristiano Lupatelli and Filippo Bernardeschi.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Tatarusanu – Tomovic, Rodriguez, Basanta – Joaquin, Fernandez, Pizarro, Valero, Pasqual – Gomez, Cuadrado.

Early into the season, Roma established themselves as the only serious title rivals to holders Juventus, but the Giallorossi are struggling to keep up with their more illustrious opponents.

Not so long ago, Rudi Garcia’s charges closed the gap to just one point, but three draws in last four games allowed the Bianconeri to open up a five-point lead.

Nothing is lost yet as there is still half a campaign to go, but fail to win at Artemio Franchi and Roma’s title bid could be effectively over.

The Giallorossi are clearly struggling for form at the moment, as witnessed by the poor performance in the Coppa Italia clash against Empoli, and it appears there is little value in odds of 3.20 (11/5) offered on away win.

Rudi Garcia will have Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan back from suspension, but Gervinho and Seydou Keita are away on international duty.

Douglas Maicon, Francesco Totti and Kostas Manolas will be recalled, while Leandro Castan, Federico Balzaretti and Vassilis Torosidis are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): De Sanctis – Maicon, Yanga-Mbiwa, Manolas, Holebas – Nainggolan, De Rossi, Strootman – Pjanic, Totti, Ljajic.
