AC Milan vs Fiorentina preview

Milan vs Fiorentina There is not much time left for AC Milan to get their campaign back on track, meaning that any result apart from a win over Fiorentina could effectively end their Champions League dream.

Viola slipped to fourth as they suffered a home loss to Lazio, but a triumph at San Siro would probably see them return to the top 3.

The current season has been full of ups and downs for AC Milan and the jury is still out on coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, who struggles to get the maximum out of his side.

The switch to 4-4-2 formation appears to have brought some improvement, mainly because it saw Keisuke Honda return to the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Carlos Bacca and M’Baye Niang appear to have established a fruitful attacking partnership, as they both managed to get on the scoresheet in the Coppa Italia triumph over Carpi.

AC Milan will now be desperate to defeat their top 3 rivals Fiorentina and close the gap behind Champions League positions, and they are 2.50 (3/2) to succeed in their quest.

There have been some very good news for coach Sinisa Mihajlovic as star forward Jeremy Menez is closing in on his return, although the game against Viola comes too soon for the Frenchman.

Mario Balotelli and Alex are now back in contention, but Diego Lopez and Rodrigo Ely continue to miss out through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Donnarumma – De Sciglio, Alex, Romagnoli, Antonelli – Honda, Kucka, Montolivo, Bonaventura – Bacca, Niang.

Unlike their next opponents, Fiorentina are enjoying one of the most successful campaigns in recent years, as they now sit mere three points off the top of the standings.

Viola have been exceeding expectations from the very start to the season, although they have suffered a dip in form of late.

Fiorentina suffered three defeats in last five games in all competitions, with back to back wins over Chievo and Palermo neutralized by the home loss to Lazio.

But, having so far won seven of twelve away games this season (D2 L3), Viola can be backed at 3.12 (53/25) to defeat AC Milan on the road.

Holding midfielder Milan Badelj is set to miss a month of action through a muscle problem, whilst Gabriel Rodriguez is suspended.

Nenad Tomovic and Josip Ilicic should be recalled to the side, while Filippo Bernardeschi is expected to start as well.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): Tatarusanu – Roncaglia, Astori, Tomovic – Blaszczykowski, Vecino, Valero, Alonso – Bernardeschi, Ilicic – Kalinic.
