Salvatore BocchettiItalian giants AC Milan are set to complete the signing of defender Salvatore Bocchetti from Spartak Moscow, according to the Russian club.

The Rossoneri have decided to reinforce their back line in the light of Philippe Mexes’ four-match ban and have agreed a deal for the former Genoa stopper.

Milan, who are available at 1.57 (4/7) to see off bottom-placed Parma on Sunday, are widely expected to add a centre forward to their ranks before the January transfer window closes.

The Rossoneri have largely struggled for form of late, having lost last three matches in all competitions, crashing out of Coppa Italia by losing to Lazio last night.

It remains to be seen whether Salvatore Bocchetti can help Pippo Inzaghi patch up the leaky defence that conceded in each of last six games.

The 28-year-old, who made 60 Serie A appearances for Genoa between 2008 and 2010, spent last four and a half years in Russia, representing Rubin Kazan and Spartak Moscow.
