Inter Milan vs Lazio Preview

Inter Milan and Lazio come together on Sunday evening as the battle for the UEFA Champions League places in Serie A intensifies.

Luciano Spalletti’s men are currently sitting third with 53 points whilst Sunday’s visitors to the San Siro are eight points and three places behind, albeit with a game in hand. A win for Lazio then could be huge if they want to reach the Champions League group stages for the first time since the 2007/08 season.
If they are to do that, they will have to earn a league win at the San Siro – something that they have not managed since a 2-0 success back in May 2016. Since then however, the Biancocelesti have earned two wins in the Coppa Italia so it certainly is not out of the realms of possibility. The price of the team doing just that is at 2/1 with Coral, whilst Inter are marginal favourites at odds of 27/10. A draw is available at 23/10.
In Inter Milan’s last five games in league action, both sides have managed to find the net in four. Both teams to score is available to be backed at a price of 8/11 with Betfred.
As a matter of fact, Inter have scored at least three goals in four out of their last five league games against Lazio, including the reverse clash this season as a brace from Mauro Icardi and a further strike from Marcelo Brozovic secured a 3-0 win. They are at 17/4 to repeat this feat once again this time around.
Despite notching two goals last time out, Icardi has not really hit the same heights as his previous seasons having only scored nine league goals this season. He is still the Nerazzurri’s top goalscorer this season though and can be backed at odds of 15/4 with BetVictor. Meanwhile, Italian forward Ciro Immobile is having another profitable season and is one of the favourites to open the scoring this weekend at odds of 17/4.
The hosts meanwhile will be missing one of their forwards with striker Lautaro Martinez out with a hamstring injury. Defender Stefan De Vrij is also a doubt and the Lazio clash could come slightly too early. Sime Vrsaljko is also out until at least October. However, in more positive news, Radja Naingolan could return after missing the last two league games with a calf injury.
Elsewhere, Lazio really only have defensive problems to worry about. Stephan Radu and Patric are both restricted to the sidelines, whilst long-term absentee Jordan Lukaku is out for at least the rest of the season.
