Wolfsburg vs Bayern 0-1High-flying Wolfsburg will attempt to inflict the Bundesliga leaders their first defeat of the campaign as well as cement the second position in the standings.

Boasting an 11-point advantage at the top, Bayern Munich can all but secure another league trophy by winning at Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg are clearly enjoying their best league campaign since lifting the Bundesliga title in 2009, with Dieter Hecking’s charges currently sitting in second position.

With the Wolves seven points clear of their top 4 rivals, the Champions League berth is theirs to lose, while they could even make the title chase a bit more interesting if they can beat Bayern on Friday.

Everybody at the club was devastated to lose midfielder Junior Malanda, who had died in a car accident, but the players have no choice but to concentrate on the task at hand.

It is important to note that Wolfsburg have lost each of their last ten meetings with Bayern Munich, and they are 7.00 (6/1) to end the barren run with a win.

Bas Dost appears to have an advantage over Ivica Olic and Nicklas Bendtner up front, despite starting mere three league fixtures this season.

Naldo and Ivan Perisic have resumed full training, but Joshua Guilavogui, Felipe Lopes and Patrick Ochs remain on the sidelines.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Benaglio – Jung, Naldo, Knoche, Rodriguez – Gustavo, Arnold – Vieirinha, de Bruyne, Perisic – Dost.

Bayern Munich have been simply outstanding in the first part of the league campaign, creating an 11-point cushion at the summit and conceding just 4 goals in 17 fixtures.

But, even if the Bavarians have virtually secured the league trophy, they are highly unlikely to take any game lightly.

With Bayern desperate to go far in the Champions League, they will want to secure the Bundesliga title as soon as possible so that they can then fully focus on their European campaign.

And having largely impressed in previous meetings with Wolfsburg, the Bavarians can be backed at 1.50 (1/2) to extend the excellent run.

Several important players have returned into action during the winter break, but Philipp Lahm, Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara are still in the infirmary.

According to the latest reports, the likes of David Alaba, Mario Gotze and Mehdi Benatia will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Neuer – Rafinha, Boateng, Dante, Bernat – Alonso – Robben, Muller, Schweinsteiger, Ribery – Lewandowski.
