Wednesday evening’s match at White Hart Lane sees Tottenham Hotspur host Nottingham Forest in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Spurs made the fifth round of last season’s competition, losing to West Ham United, and go in to this game on the back of a four game winless run which culminated in Sunday’s shock 1-0 defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to rotate his squad so goalkeeper Michel Vorm, who signed from Swansea City in the summer, could make his debut.

Roberto Soldado is also set to start upfront, though Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker are both ruled out through injury.

Soldado is priced at 5.5 (9/2) to get the first goal of the game with a variety of firms, with Harry Kane a 6.0 (5/1) chance with Paddy Power.

The home win inside ninety minutes is 1.7 (7/10) with Bet 365, with Forest as highly priced as the 5.75 (19/4) on offer from 888 Sport. The draw is widely available at 4.0 (3/1).

Forest crashed out at this stage last season when Burnley came from behind to beat them at Turf Moor, while they have themselves knocked out Tranmere Rovers and Huddersfield Town on route to this year’s third round.

They are unbeaten in all competitions under Stuart Pearce, and are top of the Championship with eighteen points from their opening eight league games.

The visitors are without captain Chris Cohen, Andy Reid, Jack Hunt, Jack Hobbs and Matty Fryatt so a number of fringe players including Lars Veldwijk and Dan Harding are ready to deputise.

Top scorer Britt Assombolonga, who has eight goals in eight league games so far, is 8.5 (15/2) to open the scoring with Bet Victor, with Michail Antonio a 13.0 (12/1) shot with 888 Sport.

These sides’ only meetings since Forest were last in the top flight fifteen years ago came in the FA Cup fifth round in 2005, with Spurs winning 3-0 at the City Ground after the original tie ended 1-1 and with Forest in such good form, you may be tempted to back both teams to score at 1.75 (3/4) with Ladbrokes.
