Bottom table side Stuttgart will attempt to get further away from the bottom three when they take on out-of-sorts Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening.

The Millionaires suffered fourth straight setback as they lost to Bayern Munich, and it’s safe to say they are in desperate need of a morale-boosting win.

Stuttgart did well to return to the elite division after a one-year absence, and the club made sure to seriously reinforce the ranks over the summer.

Most summer recruits managed to fit right in, helping the Swabians enjoy a strong start to the new campaign, and things have been going really well so far.

Eleven games into the new Bundesliga season, Stuttgart occupy 12th place in the overall standings, boasting a five-point advantage over the relegation zone.

The Swabians have been especially impressive at home, winning three of four fixtures and conceding just one goal in the process.

The good run will be put to the test against Borussia Dortmund, but this is clearly a good time to be facing the title contenders.

Captain Christian Gentner has been recovering well from shock head injuries he sustained on Matchday 4 and he should be back in contention, Dzenis Burnic is banned.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Zieler – Beck, Baumgartl, Pavard, Insua – Ascacibar, Aogo – Asano, Akolo, Ozcan – Ginczek.

Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a bright start to the new league campaign, quickly climbing to the Bundesliga summit, but their promising run was short-lived.

The Millionaires suffered a serious dip in form near the end of September and they are still unable to return to the right track.

While Borussia have all but lost hope of reaching the Champions League knockout stages, their performances in Bundesliga have also been disappointing of late.

The Millionaires slipped to third in the standings as they picked up just one point from last four fixtures, and they could soon be out of the Champions League positions as well.

This is why it is crucial for BVB to try and end the barren run against Stuttgart, and they are 1.65 (13/20) to succeed in that quest.

Full-back Raphael Guerreiro has been working on his fitness after recovering from an ankle injury, and he could play a part, while Marco Reus, Lukasz Piszczek, Sebastian Rode and Erik Durm are all in the treatment room.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Burki – Bartra, Papastathopoulos, Toprak, Schmelzer – Weigl, Castro – Philipp, Kagawa, Pulisic – Aubameyang.
