Siena vs Roma preview

Siena will be aiming to move further away from the relegation zone when they host Roma, the team that have been terribly inconsistent this season.

Newly promoted Siena started the season well, hinting that they would be able to avoid a straight return to Serie B.

However, even if the 4-0 victory over high-flying Lazio was expected to give the team an additional boost, it had just the opposite effect as Robur failed to win any of their next four Serie A games.

They did manage to qualify for the Coppa Italia semi-finals, where they beat Napoli in the first leg on Thursday, and the win should serve as a major boost before the clash with Roma.

Siena are unbeaten in last four home games in Serie A and they are 1.62 (5/8) with Ladbrokes to extend that run.

Impressive performances of keeper Gianluca Pegolo continue to keep Zeljko Brkic out of the side, but midfielder Francesco Bolzoni remains sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Pegolo – Vitiello, Rossettini, Terzi, Del Grosso – Giorgi, Vergassola, Gazzi, Brienza – Destro, Calaio.

Roma have been showing a lot of potential under Luis Enrique, but the team have been terribly inconsistent and that is the main reason why they are nowhere near the Champions League places.

After the embarrassing 4-2 defeat to Cagliari, the Giallorossi showed considerable improvement to record a 4-0 victory over in-form Inter, but that will mean nothing if the team fail to notch up a few good results in a row.

Meanwhile, Roma finished their match against Catania that was interrupted after 66 minutes and the result remained 1-1 as neither of the sides could create much in the half an hour that was played on Wednesday.

The Giallorossi are now very motivated to beat Siena and thus close the gap behind the third-placed Lazio, and they are 2.38 (11/8) with BetVictor to do so.

Daniele De Rossi misses out through suspension, whereas Pablo Osvaldo, Simone Perotta and Nicolas Burdisso are out through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Stekelenburg – Taddei, Juan, Heinze, Jose Angel – Simplicio, Greco, Pjanic – Totti – Borini, Lamela.
