Sitting level on points with their next opponents, Schalke will attempt to extend the excellent start to the season and remain in Champions League positions.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, are searching for the second away win of the campaign after losing to Hoffenheim some ten days ago.

Having ended the previous league campaign in bottom half, mere six points above the drop zone, Schalke desperately needed to show some improvement this season.

The club made some shrewd signings in the summer, without spending too much money, so the team definitely look stronger than last term.

In spite of the difficult fixture list, Schalke managed to win three of their first four Bundesliga games, defeating the likes of RB Leipzig, Stuttgart and Werder Bremen.

The good run of results saw the Miners climb to fourth in the league standings, and the clash against mighty Bayern will serve as a good test of their Champions League ambitions.

Schalke have failed to impress in recent home games vs the Bavarians, losing five of last six, failing to score in four of those matches.

The good news is that head coach Domenico Tedesco doesn’t seem to have any selection worries ahead of the visit of Bayern.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-3): Fahrmann – Kehrer, Naldo, Nastasic – Caligiuri, Goretzka, Bentaleb, Oczipka – Harit, Burgstaller, Konoplyanka.

Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is coming under intense pressure as the club board and fans expect to see more from the team.

The failure to mount a serious Champions League title bid still haunts the Bavarians and the new season hasn’t had the best of starts.

The 2-0 defeat to Hoffenheim served as a blow to the club’s title ambitions in Bundesliga, although they’ve got plenty of time to make things right.

Bayern have since defeated Anderlecht and Mainz without conceding and they are now 2.50 (6/4) to defeat Schalke to nil.

David Alaba and Juan Bernat continue to miss out, but James Rodriguez and Javi Martinez have returned into action.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Rafinha – Thiago, Rudy – Robben, Muller, Coman – Lewandowski.
